"WEL designed" Regulatory Conformance:

Ambulatory Surgery Centers

WEL Designs PLC is among the nations' leading experts in regulatory conformance of Ambulatory Surgery Centers.  We have exclusively provided architectural and regulatory expertise to the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health care (AAAHC) since the late 1980s -- including authoring their standards, training their surveyors, and representing them in regulatory task groups with governmental agencies, both State and Federal.

New facilities developed under our leadership aren't the only benefactors of our expertise.  We also perform consulting services for organizations who want to assess their own regulatory status, or that of facilities under considering for acquisition.

"WEL designed" Health Care Facilities:

Ambulatory Surgery Centers, Clinical Practice Suites, Ancillary Services

WEL Designs PLC services provide regulatory and functional / operational expertise you will probably not find anywhere else.  Many, if not most, "experienced architectural firms" don't even realize how little they know about clinical practice and outpatient health care . . . let alone provide you with truly valuable and effective facility designs.  Very few architectural firms can; they simply aren't focused enough on the priorities of medical planning, and lack the experience and confidence to protect clients from uniformed decisions and confused priorities.

This of course leads to the question, "what does the Local Architect do then?" . . . and the best answer is simply "what WEL Designs doesn't".  Our principal staff have specialized absolutely and exclusively in the "space planning" of physician-owned Practice and Ambulatory Health Care facilities since 1983.  While this enables us to be really good at functional / operational / regulatory-conforming space design, we do not offer traditional full service architectural services.  There is undeniable value to a local (or at least regional) architect's knowledge of local building regulations, construction methods, and bidding environment.  We also don't generally deal with the design of the exterior building shell . . . again simply because that is not what makes us valuable to our clients.  Like most of our physician-clients, we are specialists.

Our purpose is to do everything possible to give you a facility that fits your staff and operational need like a well-tailored suite, while meeting all regulatory conditions for approval.  That is a big job, and requires we decide together details of the space you will use; from basic wall and door locations, to equipment selection, to cabinetry design, to electrical outlet locations, and locations of light fixtures and switches.  It all matters; it all costs the same done right or wrong; it can and should all be done "on purpose" . . . because if it’s not done right you will either be forever hampered by it, or you will be paying a second time to fix it.

Our services provide a balanced response to the demands of contemporary health care, from patient comfort, to regulatory conformance, to operational efficiency.  Existing facilities are no exception – with "growing pains" or sweeping changes in healthcare delivery, we resolve the conflicts of outdated and/or poorly planned facilities that can limit or reduce your productivity and profitability.
